Welcome to Alans Diary !not a blog!

31-July-2003
Broke already!... did my online banking and found that
even though new salary has gone into account...my outgoings have already stripped
me bare! So, another month to work through with no new gadgets or toys to play with
30-July-2003
APUS box still upgrading. Spent the evening building LEGO
Still got a whole lots of boxes to reconstruct before selling the unwanted sets
on eBay. The joy of collecting..the joy of car boot sales :-)
29-July-2003
Ah! Debian..Debian...why I didnt check the APT sources
list better? Now moved to the proper stream and got 348Mb of upgrades...thats better
2.4.9 kernel is relatively okay on APUS..but we must get 2.4.21 working again
28-July-2003
VPN aint gonna work for this connection that I'm trying
so spent the day working on RADIUS and VLAN information
26/27-July-2003
Weekend of the AmiWest Show. As I couldnt afford to go
I was very happy to listen and watch the show on streaming audio and video
Had to borrow a friends WinXP PC to use WinAMP - the Amiga only has streaming
audio ability. Good stuff from the show...for both 'camps' there was good
progress shown. Hoping this is the turnaround point for the whole development
25-july-2003
Not happy with diary format. next months will be in normal
order..makes sense. got the PPP link to work. the Linux PPC Amiga can now talk
to the world. great. APUS development work can restart... that darn PCI Bus ;-)
Amiwest show tommorrow...will connect up digitally to see and listen to it
24-July-2003
Almost got the PPP working. the Linux box could ping the
NetBSD one (its gateway) but couldnt get to the firewall (the network gateway)
checked routing tables and things appear fine. will play with different private
network addresses and masks tommorrow
23-July-2003
Logged into old work address and cleared loads of email
mostly junk...also transferred files from my old website to the new box
they will be able to go back online soon. have worked out a nice way of
connecting my PPP system to my broadband
22-July-2003
the bad weather starts...a day of rain. i can see and
recall the nasty bits of public transport. 3 weeks without a car now. getting
used to it. list of things to do at work and home is slowly filling up. which
is good, because it keeps the brain going and thoughts flying.
21-July-2003
A week of being 30. how does it feel? normal i guess
Got a modem to complete an long outstanding job. V92 external. i recall
the days of modem use.... ah. reminds me. have to get my Amiga LinuxAPUS
system working with a PPP link to my home network
19/20-July-2003
Spent the weekend recovering from the week.
Some trivial DIY (those big jobs are still lurking on the horizon though
and they arent going away). stripped/protected exterior ground floor windows
using cuprinol preserver and Wilkos exterior undercoat and gloss. nice
weather for it.
16/18-July-2003

Microsoft exploits to fix our equipment against

13-July-2003
A beautiful day weather-wise. myself...a bit of sun due
to putting undercoat on window frames. did some garden work too. In the evening I updated my NetBSD ports file , installed SAMBA and got the other windows boxes to have a Z: drive. its a tester of things to come
12-July-2003
